The Discover 125 is powered by a 124.5 cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled DTS-i (Digital Twin Spark Ignition) engine. It features Bajaj's ExhausTEC technology, which improves engine torque at low revs, making it easier to pull through traffic without frequent gear changes.

The engine produces 11 PS of power. While this is lower than the Pulsar 125, it is tuned specifically for "linear" delivery—meaning the power comes on smoothly and predictably, which is ideal for daily commuting and family use.
