The FZS FI V2 utilizes the 149cc "Blue Core" engine, which was a ground-up redesign to replace the older 153cc unit. This air-cooled, SOHC, 2-valve engine is optimized for high combustion efficiency and reduced power loss, making it one of the smoothest motors in the 150cc segment.

The V2 produces 13.2 PS (approximately 13 BHP). While this was a slight paper-drop from the V1, the Fuel Injection (FI) ensures that every bit of that power is delivered with precision, resulting in a cleaner and more responsive "pick-up" compared to its carbureted predecessor.

Torque is delivered early at 6000 rpm, which is the sweet spot for city filtering. The 12.8 Nm output allows the bike to pull cleanly from low speeds even in 3rd or 4th gear, reducing the need for constant downshifting in traffic.

The transmission is a standard 5-speed manual with a wet multiplate clutch. It features an "International" shift pattern (1-down, 4-up) and is widely praised for its light clutch action, which prevents finger fatigue during long commutes.

The standard FZS V2 features a 282 mm front disc and a 130 mm rear drum. However, the later "Dual Disc" (DD) version introduced a 220 mm rear disc, which provides much more feedback and stability during high-speed braking. Note that ABS is not available on this model.

The rectangular LCD console is fully digital. A key addition for the V2 was the "Eco" indicator, which lights up when the rider is in the most fuel-efficient rev range, encouraging better mileage habits.
