The Multistrada V4 is powered by the 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine. Unlike the Desmosedici Stradale found in Ducati's superbikes, this engine utilizes a spring valve return system instead of the traditional Desmodromic valves. This choice allows for a smoother, more tractable power delivery suited for long-distance touring and significantly extends the service intervals. It retains the 90° V4 configuration and counter-rotating crankshaft, providing a perfect blend of high-end performance and low-speed smoothness.

The Multistrada V4 produces a claimed 170 hp, making it one of the most powerful adventure tourers on the market. The power is delivered through a sophisticated Twin Pulse firing order, which ensures excellent traction on loose surfaces while providing a characterful V-twin-like grunt at lower revs before transitioning into a smooth, four-cylinder rush.

With 125 Nm of peak torque, the Multistrada is designed for effortless overtakes, even when fully loaded with a passenger and panniers. The torque curve is exceptionally flat, providing a steady surge of power that makes the bike feel much lighter and more responsive than its size suggests.
