The Bolero Neo Plus is powered by Mahindra’s proven 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, a significant upgrade from the 1.5-litre unit found in the standard Neo. This 4-cylinder, DOHC (Double Over Head Camshaft) engine is tuned for durability and low-end grunt, making it ideal for carrying full loads across varied terrains. It utilizes a Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDI) fuel system to balance power delivery and fuel efficiency.

The power output is rated at 118.35 bhp (roughly 120 PS), ensuring the vehicle doesn't feel underpowered even with nine passengers on board. The power delivery is linear, focusing on mid-range performance for highway cruising.

With 280 Nm of torque available from as low as 1,800 rpm, the Neo Plus offers excellent "driveability." This high torque allows the driver to minimize gear shifts in city traffic and provides the necessary "pull" for steep inclines.

While not built for sprinting, the Bolero Neo Plus clocks a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 13.74 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to around 145 km/h to maintain stability given its high center of gravity and boxy aerodynamics.
