The JSW Jetour T2 is set to disrupt the premium SUV segment in India with its Intelligent Drive Model (i-DM) plug-in hybrid system. This powertrain combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine with dual electric motors, producing a massive combined output of 381 hp and 610 Nm of torque. For the urban commuter, it features a 26.7 kWh LFP battery pack that delivers a claimed pure EV range of 139 km (NEDC), allowing for zero-emission daily driving. When the petrol engine and battery work in tandem, the T2 can achieve a total combined range of nearly 1,000 km, offering the peace of mind of a hybrid with the performance of a sportier SUV.
Power is managed by a specialized 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), which optimizes torque delivery across different driving modes—EV, Series, and Parallel. This tech-heavy approach allows the T2 to compete with heavyweights like the Toyota Fortuner, but with significantly lower running costs. The vehicle also supports DC fast charging, capable of taking the battery from 30% to 80% in about 30 minutes, ensuring that even the hybrid battery stays topped up during short breaks on long highway journeys.
