The 2026 Safari offers two powerful hearts. The 2.0L Kryotec Diesel remains the highway king, while the newly introduced 1.5L Hyperion TGDi Petrol engine brings a refined, high-performance option for urban buyers. Both engines are BS6 Phase 2.0 compliant and optimized for the SUV's larger mass compared to the Harrier.

Power figures are nearly identical between the two. The Diesel outputs 170 PS, while the Petrol Hyperion delivers 168 PS. The key difference lies in the power curve; the petrol engine offers a more spirited top-end performance, whereas the diesel excels in sustained high-speed cruising.

The Diesel engine is the torque champion with 350 Nm, essential for moving a full load of seven passengers. The Petrol TGDi offers 280 Nm, which is best-in-class for its displacement, ensuring the Safari doesn't feel sluggish despite its 1.8-tonne kerb weight.
