The heart of the A 45 S is the M139 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, the most powerful four-cylinder in series production. It produces a staggering 421 hp (310 kW) and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is rotated 180 degrees compared to standard A-Class units, allowing the turbocharger and exhaust manifold to sit at the rear (near the firewall) for better aerodynamics and shorter air ducting.
