The 992.2 Carrera GTS debuts a newly developed 3.6-liter flat-six boxer engine. By increasing the bore to 97 mm and stroke to 81 mm, Porsche has shifted from the 3.0L units to this larger displacement block, which is designed to integrate seamlessly with the high-voltage T-Hybrid hardware and an electric turbocharger.

The total system output is a staggering 532 bhp (398 kW). The combustion engine alone produces 478 bhp, while a permanently excited synchronous motor integrated into the PDK transmission provides an additional 54 bhp of boost, ensuring immediate power delivery even at low engine speeds.

The T-Hybrid system delivers a peak torque of 610 Nm. A critical innovation is the electric exhaust turbocharger (eTurbo), which uses an integrated electric motor to spool the turbine instantly, providing 500 Nm of torque as early as 1,500 rpm and virtually eliminating turbo lag.

Equipped with the standard Sport Chrono Package, the 2026 Carrera GTS reaches 100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds. This 0.3-second improvement over its predecessor is attributed to the instant electric torque fill and the improved efficiency of the eTurbo system during the launch phase.

The Carrera GTS maintains a top track speed of 312 km/h. Despite the added 50 kg of hybrid hardware, the aerodynamic refinements and the sustained high-RPM power of the 3.6L engine allow it to maintain elite supercar velocity.

The 8-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) has been significantly reinforced to handle the instant torque of the hybrid motor. The electric motor itself is housed within the transmission, functioning as both a performance booster and the starter-generator for the 400V system.

Through extensive use of lightweight materials, Porsche has limited the weight penalty of the hybrid system to only 50 kg. The 1.9 kWh high-voltage battery is mounted under the front luggage compartment to optimize the front-to-rear weight distribution for better turn-in response.

The 992.2 generation marks the end of the physical tachometer. It features a 12.6-inch curved digital display that offers up to seven different views, including a classic five-tube Porsche layout and a specific "Hybrid" power meter display.

Unlike a traditional Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), the T-Hybrid system is non-pluggable and focused entirely on performance. It uses a small 1.9 kWh battery with high discharge/charge rates to power the eTurbo and the traction motor, recuperating energy both through braking and directly from the exhaust gas stream.
