This engine is highly regarded for its under-stressed nature and immense low-end torque, making it a favorite for heavy towing and long-distance reliability.
Gearbox: 8-Speed Automatic (New for 2.2L)
While the 3.0L variants retain the robust 6-speed automatic, the new 2.2L engine is now paired with a more modern 8-speed torque converter automatic. This transmission provides smoother shifts and allows the engine to stay in its peak power band longer, significantly improving drivability over the outgoing 1.9L/6-speed combo.
