Unlike many competitors that use CVTs, Kia has opted for a traditional 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission for the Sportage Hybrid. This choice provides a more natural gear-shifting feel and handles the high torque of the hybrid system more robustly. For the 2026 model, the transmission features revised logic for smoother transitions between EV and ICE modes.
