Gearbox: e-CVT (Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission)
Unlike traditional belt-driven CVTs, Toyota's e-CVT uses a planetary gearset to blend power from the engine and two electric motors. This eliminates the need for a clutch or torque converter, significantly reducing mechanical wear and providing a seamless, shift-free driving experience.
Drive Type: FWD (AWD-i Optional)
The standard model is Front-Wheel Drive (FWD). However, the Yaris Cross offers an intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD-i) system that uses a dedicated electric motor on the rear axle. This "E-Four" system provides extra traction on slippery surfaces without the weight and fuel penalty of a traditional driveshaft.
