Tesla uses a single-speed direct-drive transmission with a reduction ratio of approximately 9:1. This eliminates the weight and complexity of a multi-gear system, providing seamless acceleration without the interruptions of gear shifts.
Drive Type: RWD / AWD Dual Motor
The Model 3 offers two drivetrain layouts. The base version is Rear-Wheel Drive, emphasizing efficiency. The Long Range and Performance models feature an Induction Motor at the front and a Permanent Magnet Motor at the rear, creating a digital All-Wheel Drive system.
