About Mini Cooper S Convertible in India

The Mini Cooper S Convertible 2025 facelift is the ultimate open-top expression of the brand's iconic "go-kart" feeling. Recently launched in the Indian market as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), it features an electrically operated fabric soft-top that can be fully retracted in just 18 seconds at speeds up to 30 kmph. This model maintains the classic Mini silhouette while introducing a modernized octagonal front grille, redesigned LED headlamps with three distinct light signatures, and a unique tailgate that drops down to serve as a temporary seat capable of holding up to 80kg.

Inside, the convertible follows the new "Mini Minimalist" philosophy, centered around a stunning 9.4-inch circular OLED touchscreen. This high-definition display replaces the traditional instrument cluster, handling all driving and infotainment data through the new Mini Operating System 9. The cabin is trimmed in high-quality sustainable materials, such as recycled polyester knits and Vescin leather alternatives, offering a premium atmosphere that complements the thrill of open-air driving on Indian coastal roads or city boulevards.

Mini Cooper S Convertible Full Specifications & Features

Performance and Engine

1. Engine Displacement: 1,998 cc

The 2026 Convertible is powered by the latest iteration of the 2.0L TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder petrol engine. Delivering a robust 201 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, it is tuned to provide linear power even with the top down. This allows the convertible to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 234 km/h.

Transmission and Drivetrain

1. Gearbox Type: 7-Speed DCT

The Cooper S Convertible utilizes a 7-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission (Steptronic). This gearbox is optimized for rapid-fire shifts in "Go-Kart" mode while maintaining smoothness in "Green" mode. It is a Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) setup, ensuring the vehicle remains light and agile through tight corners.

Dimensions and Weight

1. Length: 3,879 mm

Despite the folding roof mechanism, the Mini remains compact at 3,879 mm in length. It features a wheelbase of 2,495 mm and a ground clearance of approximately 146 mm. The kerb weight is slightly higher than the hardtop at 1,380 kg due to the additional structural reinforcements required for the open-top chassis.

Capacities

1. Boot Space: 160 - 215 Litres

Practicality in a convertible is a balance; the Cooper S offers 160 Litres of cargo space with the roof down, expanding to 215 Litres when the roof is up or rear seats are folded. The fuel tank capacity is 44 Litres, which supports the 2.0L engine's efficiency for weekend getaways.

Interior and Tech

1. Infotainment Size: 9.4-inch OLED Display

The centerpiece is the high-resolution 9.4-inch circular OLED screen running MINI OS 9. It features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard. Unique to the convertible is the "Always Open Timer," which tracks how much time you have driven with the roof down.

Other Data Points

1. Proprietary Tech: Z-Fold Soft Top

The fully electric soft-top features a unique Z-fold mechanism that can open or close in just 18 seconds at speeds up to 30 km/h. It also includes a "Sunroof" mode, where only the front section of the roof slides back by 40 cm for partial airflow.
