Maruti Suzuki Swift Price in India 2026

The 2024+ Swift debuts the all-new Z12E engine. Unlike the previous 4-cylinder K-Series, this is a 3-cylinder unit. It is engineered with a high compression ratio of 13.9 and advanced turbulence optimization to achieve a thermal efficiency of nearly 40. In the Indian market, it is also available in a CNG avatar, which slightly reduces peak output in favor of running costs.

The petrol Z12E engine produces 80.46bhp. While this is a slight reduction from the older K12N's 89bhp, the power delivery is much more linear. The CNG variant produces a lower 68.8 bhp to maintain engine longevity and efficiency.

Maximum torque stands at 111.7Nm for Petrol and 101.8Nm for CNG. The 3-cylinder configuration allows for better low-end pull, making it more responsive in stop-and-go city traffic compared to its predecessor.

The move to 3 cylinders was motivated by the need for higher fuel efficiency and reduced internal friction. To counter the inherent vibrations of a 3-cylinder, Maruti has utilized improved engine mounts and a silent timing chain.

The engine uses a Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) setup with 12 valves total. It features an intermediate locking mechanism on the VVT (Variable Valve Timing) intake to ensure stable combustion even at low loads.

The Swift is aerodynamically tuned with a roof-end spoiler and front strakes to reduce drag. It maintains stability up to its top speed of approximately 165km/h.

Users can choose between a crisp-shifting 5-speed Manual or the 5-speed Auto Gear Shift (AGS). The AGS has been updated with a new hydraulic actuator for smoother shifts compared to the third-gen model.

The Indian Swift is exclusively Front-Wheel Drive. It utilizes the Heartect Platform, which optimizes the floor layout for maximum legroom despite the car's compact footprint.

The Swift retains its "Golden Proportions." It is slightly longer than the previous model +15mm, while the height and width remain optimized for tight Indian parking spots and city lanes.

The unladen ground clearance is 163mm. While typical for a hatchback, the suspension is stiffened to prevent "bottoming out" when the car is fully loaded with five passengers.

In a major safety move for the 2024+ model, Maruti Suzuki now provides 6 airbags as standard from the base LXi trim upwards. This includes frontal, side, and curtain airbags.

The safety narrative for the Swift is evolving. While the previous generation scored poorly, the 2025/2026 models have shown improvement. The updated spec scored 3 stars in ANCAP (2025 tests), though older Indian units previously sat at a 1-star Global NCAP rating.
