Maruti Suzuki Fronx Price in India 2026

The Fronx offers two petrol engines in the Indian market. The 1.2L K-Series Dual Jet is a 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine focused on city refinement and efficiency. The 1.0L K-Series Boosterjet is a 3-cylinder turbocharged unit designed for enthusiasts, featuring direct injection for better mid-range punch. Both engines are compliant with BS6 Phase 2 (E20) norms and feature Maruti's Smart Hybrid (SHVS) technology for idle start-stop and torque assist.

The 1.2L NA engine produces 88.5bhp at 6,000rpm, while the 1.0L Turbo variant pushes 98.6bhp at 5,500rpm. The Turbo's power delivery is notably more aggressive once the boost kicks in at 2,000rpm.

Torque is where the Turbo shines, offering 147.6Nm across a wide band (2,000-4,500rpm), making it superior for highway overtaking compared to the 113Nm of the naturally aspirated unit.

The 1.2L engine uses a 4-cylinder layout for maximum smoothness and low NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) levels. The 1.0L Turbo uses a 3-cylinder layout, which has a characteristic "thrum" but is lighter and more thermally efficient.

Both engines utilize a DOHC setup with 4 valves per cylinder (16 valves total for 1.2L, 12 valves for 1.0L). This allows for precise variable valve timing (VVT) to optimize airflow at both low and high speeds.

The 1.2L uses Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPFI), whereas the 1.0L Boosterjet utilizes Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI). GDI sprays fuel directly into the combustion chamber at high pressure, allowing for a higher compression ratio and better fuel atomization.

The 1.0L Turbo MT variant is the quickest in the lineup, completing the 0-100km/h sprint in approximately 11.4seconds. The 1.2L NA variant is more leisure-oriented, taking roughly 13.5seconds.

Aerodynamically optimized for a crossover, the Fronx can reach a top speed of approximately 180km/h, though it is electronically limited for safety and stability on Indian roads.

The Fronx offers three transmission choices. The 1.2L comes with a 5-speed Manual or a 5-speed AMT (AGS). The 1.0L Turbo offers a 5-speed Manual or a sophisticated 6-speed Torque Converter Automatic with paddle shifters, providing smoother shifts than the AMT.

All variants of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx are Front-Wheel Drive (FWD). The engine is transversely mounted, sending power to the front axles, which optimizes cabin space and fuel efficiency.

Both manual and AMT versions utilize a conventional single-plate dry friction clutch. The 6-speed Automatic version, however, uses a fluid coupling (torque converter) with planetary gear sets.

Measuring just under 4 meters, the Fronx fits into the small car tax bracket in India. Its width of 1765mm gives it a muscular stance, while the 1550mm height includes the functional roof rails.

With an unladen ground clearance of 190 mm, the Fronx is 20mm higher than the Baleno, making it well-suited for high speed breakers and rural Indian roads.

Thanks to the Heartect Platform which uses high-tensile steel, the Fronx remains lightweight. This contributes to its high power-to-weight ratio and class-leading fuel economy.

While dual front airbags are standard, the Zeta and Alpha variants come equipped with 6 airbags (Front, Side, and Curtain), offering comprehensive protection in the event of a collision.

The Fronx has seen mixed results. It secured a 5-star rating in ASEAN NCAP (2024). However, in the more recent 2025 Australasian NCAP (ANCAP) test, the made-in-India Fronx received a 1-star rating due to a rear seatbelt failure during the full-width frontal crash test. Maruti is expected to issue a rectification for this in 2026 models.

The first three services are free of labor charges (at 1,000km, 5,000km, and 10,000km). Post that, the periodic maintenance is scheduled every 10,000km or 12 months.

Effective from mid-2024, Maruti Suzuki updated its standard warranty to 3 years or 100,000 km (whichever is earlier). This can be extended up to 5 years or 100,000km through the "Royal Platinum" extended warranty program.
