The Fortuner offers a 6-speed Sequential Shift Automatic with Paddle Shifters or a 6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT). The 4x4 variants are equipped with a legendary Part-time 4WD system, featuring an Electronic Drive Control, Active Traction Control (A-TRC), and an Electronic Differential Lock. The petrol variant is strictly available in 2WD (Rear-Wheel Drive) configuration with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.
