Every Defender in India comes standard with the industry-leading ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. It includes a twin-speed transfer box (high/low range) for serious off-roading and is paired with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters on higher trims.
Drive Type: Permanent All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
The Defender features a permanent Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system. It can divert 100% of engine torque to either axle via an electronic center differential. It also features Terrain Response 2, which automatically selects the best driving mode for the surface.
Clutch Type: Torque Converter
The 8-speed ZF unit utilizes a sophisticated torque converter with a lock-up feature, providing smooth shifts in traffic while maintaining the durability required for heavy towing and rock crawling.
