In India, the MU-X is offered exclusively with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It features a sequential shift mode and "Adaptive Grade Logic" to prevent unnecessary hunting for gears on inclines.

The MU-X is available in both 4x2 Rear-Wheel Drive and a more capable 4x4 variant featuring Isuzu's "Terrain Command" shift-on-the-fly system with 2H, 4H, and 4L modes.
